The public works director for the town of Surfside Beach has been suspended from his job, following his arrest last night.
Robert Tyrone Taylor, 45, is charged with having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
Taylor was arrested while driving a town-owned pickup on the beach. Taylor paid his bond and was released Thursday morning.
Town Administrator Ed Booth says Taylor is suspended without pay, pending an investigation.
