One dead in house fire in Coward

A Florence County man died, and his son is in the hospital after a house fire in the Town of Coward.

Family members say the son was injured trying to save his father.

It happened just after 3:15 this afternoon. Captain Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office tells us by the time firefighters arrived the entire home was burning.

Nunn says the son is being treated for burn injuries. The victim's name isn't being released at this time.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
