There is one type of item that you can buy in South Carolina on Friday without having to pay any sales tax: guns.

Shotguns, rifles and handguns are all sales tax-free this Friday and Saturday, cutting about nine percent off the price of hunting guns.

It's due to the second amendment weekend for gun sales across the state.

The manager of the Bass Pro Shop at the Myrtle Beach Mall said some customers lined up early Friday morning to snag the best deals.

He expects gun sales to make up about 10-15 percent of the store's sales this weekend.

Chris Baker, the General Manager of Bass Pro Shop said despite the spike in sales, he is not sure whether the tax-free weekend really adds much to total gun sales.

"You're looking at probably around 250 plus guns this weekend versus probably 50-75 over a normal Friday Saturday weekend of a holiday," said Baker.

He said gun sales will be concentrated on one weekend, instead of scattered through the Christmas season.
