The State Law Enforcement Division has called off a statewide Amber Alert after an early morning tip led North Charleston authorities to find a 1-month-old missing baby alive and well.
According to North Charleston police, officers pursued a tip they received around 12:30 Wednesday morning and found baby Angel Miguel Perez at a residence in Summerville.
Police arrested a 19-year-old woman and charged her with kidnapping.
According to police, the baby boy was taken to Medical University Hospital for a medical evaluation and was reunited with his parents.
Authorities will release more details at a press conference this morning.
The infant was abducted from a parked car at a post office in North Charleston Monday night.
Police say about 5pm Monday, the infant's mother pulled into the post office on Rivers Avenue with the child in the car. The woman reportedly left the vehicle running, with the infant inside, and ran inside to drop off mail and when she returned to the vehicle the child was gone.
A witness told police that a woman was seen leaving the area of the post office carrying an infant and got into a gray, four-door compact vehicle.
