A member of the Coastal Carolina University football team was arrested Fridays morning for driving under the influence.

Austin Jace Shirley is a walk on senior linebacker. Jail records show he was arrested around 3:00am Friday.

Conway Police made the arrest, but they have not returned our phone call.

Officials say Shirley did not accompany the team to Charleston Southern for Saturday's game.

Player's make Headlines...

Sorry folks, players from the local college that make mistakes make headlines! Some people forget that athletes are portrayed as role models and must live up to a certain standard so as not to let down their school, community or teammates. Just the way it is...

I agree

All DUI's are listed in most local police reports, but to single out a person to post their pictures on line and in news papers is a form of profiling. You are right, out of all the arrest made this week for DUI's and they profile someone because they are a football player for Coastal? Yes, it makes me sick as well. I don't consider this news.

This is News WHY??

Personally I think EVERY PERSON no matter age sex religion, Job, etc.... that is arrested for DUI should have their Picture and name posted online, Newspapers, or TV the fact that this "person" has his information alone out of the HOW MANY??? aressted in the last 24 to 48 hours for DUI. Just because he plays a sport at a local College??? Makes me ILL.. I say POST EM ALL... or None!
