Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick has identified the three people killed in a accident.

Hendrick says as 26-year-old Mark Sermon Jr. of Surfside Beach, his 9-year-old daughter Dajah Sermon, and his 6-year-old son Mark Sermon III died in the accident.

The two children were students at Lakewood Elementary School in Myrtle Beach.

Horry County school spokeswoman Teal Britton tells NewsChannel 15 that the school district's crises team informed Lakewood students of the accident first thing Thursday morning.

Grief counselors were and will continue to be made available to students.

Britton says it was a difficult morning for the entire school.

"For many of these students, being so young, this is the first time they've dealt with death," said Britton.

A memorial service at the school is likely, but plans have not been formalized according to Britton.

The accident happened on Highway 17 Bypass at the intersection of Palmetto Point Boulevard around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The crash involved a car and truck and is still under investigation.

Dear God, I pray that you would comfort this family in their time of grief. I can't imagine what they must be going through. Please spread your Love around them and help them to get through this. Although three lives have been lost, I believe that they are in a better place. I pray that all the family, friends, students (at Lakewood Elementary)will find a way to understand that God makes no mistakes and that their souls are at rest with Christ. This doesn't make it any easier, but please God just help them all through this. My deepest sympathy.....In God I Pray-Amen

palmetto point accident

This is probably one of the most dangerous sections in horry county. I have kids that live in that area and it is very scary getting in and out of that intersection. DOT needs to really reconfigure the frontage road and the light in that section. That's one reason for all the traffic thru the residental section, people don't want to go to that intersection.
