Investigators in Chesterfield County say they arrested a man who repeatedly stabbed a woman and left her for dead in a ditch on a highway.
Police have charged Brian William Taylor with assault and battery with intent to kill.
Officers say last week he stabbed a 46-year-old woman at the intersection of Highway 151 and Old Creek Road, near the Jefferson Community.
She survived and continues to recover.
Police say the victim and Taylor were acquaintances.
He remains behind bars at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
