NewsChannel 15 has learned officials with MRR Sandhills, LLC and ZV Pate Incorporated have filed a lawsuit against Marlboro County.
In August, the county's planning commission voted against rezoning land in the northern part of the county for the landfill.
Last year, DHEC granted the company a demonstration of need, which essentially said a landfill was needed in the area.
The Marlboro County Administrator did not wish to comment on the lawsuit.
