Governor Mark Sanford was in Myrtle Beach for an announcement about 50 new jobs coming to Avcraft Aviation over the next three years. He also talked about how Myrtle Beach could cash in on Boeing's plans to build a plant in North Charleston.

Sanford says he wanted to see Avcraft's facility in Myrtle Beach, to get a better sense of other opportunities that could come about as a result of Boeing's announcement.

He says Avcraft competes on a worldwide basis for aircraft maintenance business and those projects often come to Myrtle Beach because of the quality of the workmanship.

"I think once again that this is one of those things that we can build on, which is a workforce that has proven itself in an international competition whether here at Avcraft or at Boeing's decision to come to North Charleston," Sanford said.

Sanford added that Myrtle Beach International Airport has an unusual amount of ramp space available where planes could be parked and worked on.
