Grand Strand/Charleston bus service begins in December

The Coast Regional Transit Authority has announced service to Charleston, S.C. beginning December 12, 2009.

The Grand Strand-Charleston Connector will provide public transportation two days a week to residents and tourists of Horry and Georgetown counties.

Saturday service to Charleston will begin on December 12, and Thursday service to the Ralph H. Johnson, VA Medical Center will begin on December 17.

Return trips from Charleston to Georgetown and Myrtle Beach will be available for residents and tourists to enjoy shopping, entertainment and recreation in the Grand Strand area.

The Coast RTA will offer discount fares during the holiday season and routes and schedules will be available after the public has an opportunity to give their input.

Public meetings will be held on November 9, at the Georgetown Public Library, 405 Cleveland St., at 7 p.m., and November 10, at Myrtle Beach City Hall, 937 Broadway St., at 6 p.m.

Meetings in Conway and Charleston will be announced at a later date.
