The Horry County Solicitor's Office said Saturday that preliminary findings show the Carolina Forest High School Resource Officer who on Friday shot and killed a student following an altercation was justified in his deadly force.
Deputy Solicitor Fran Humphries told NewsChannel 15 that the solicitor's office was involved in the case from the beginning. After being apprised of all the facts, Humprhies said the shooting death of 16-year-old Trevor Varinecz by SRO Marcus Rhodes -- while tragic -- was justified.
Humprhies said a final determination on the case should be delivered soon.
