American flags in South Carolina are at half staff Friday, for a 20 year old United States Marine who was killed in combat action in Afghanistan.
Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes of Gaffney died last week at a military hospital in Germany, from injuries he suffered in an explosion earlier in the week.
Fowlkes' unit was based out of Camp LeJeune North Carolina. Flags are also lowered in observance of national POW-MIA day.
Friday night, the group Rolling Thunder will hold a candlelight vigil to recognize POS's and MIA's. They'll be at Warbird Park which is just east of The Market Common on the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
The vigil will start at 7:30.
