The ESAB Welding and Cutting plant on South Ebenezer Road in Florence, laid off 90 workers Thursday.

Vice President of Human Resources Daniel Preest said the economy is to blame for the job losses.

Preest said ESAB offered severance packages to the employees.

He couldn't say if more layoffs are on the way.

According to the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, ESAB employs about 650 people and has been in Florence for 25 years.
