At Waccamaw High School in Pawleys Island, voters were in line before the polls opened at 7 a.m. and are waiting patiently for the chance to cast their ballots.

The mood was positive, and the talk was of the historic nature of the election.

Poll workers passed out copies of the amendments for people to read in line so they'd be prepared by the time they got to the voting machines.

One couple, who thought they were registered to vote at the precinct, ran into trouble when they weren't on the list.  Remember to check your precinct on-line or with voter registration officials before you go, to avoid any possible problems.

The polls will remain open until 7 p.m.

If you are still in line at 7 p.m. you will still be allowed to vote.
