(AP) -- A disturbing story out of Myrtle Beach, as the father of a baby, who is less than a year old, is accused of leaving the child in the car while he got a lap dance at a strip club.
The father was arrested but has not yet been charged.
The baby is okay.
Tuesday just before midnight someone noticed the baby girl in that parking lot inside a running, unlocked car alone with keys in the ignition.
Police ran the tag numbers, found the owners name and went inside to find the man.
They found 27-year old Geoffrey Allen Hale.
Police tell NewsChannel 15 they spotted Hale smoking a cigarette while getting a lap dance by a stripper.
The officer asked Hale to step outside and according to a report that's when Hale said his little girl was sleeping inside the car.
He told officers he had gone to the club to pick up a cell phone from his wife. Who according to police is also a stripper who was dancing in the club at the same time father was getting a lap dance.
NewsChannel 15 talked with the owner of Derriers who says they don't give lap dances on the floor of the club and disputes what police are saying.
Police arrested Hale and turned the child over to the mother.
The question is did she have knowledge of what was going on? We're going to dig a little deeper and see what police have to say on that at 7.
The father is in the Myrtle Beach jail this hour charges against him are pending.
