NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Jars of peanut butter and jelly are piled high in North Myrtle Beach.
North Strand Helping Hand is holding its third annual Great Peanut Butter and Jelly Challenge.
The group set up in front of the Bi-Lo on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach to collect PB&J.
The agency hopes to collect enough peanut butter and jelly to last for the next year. Peanut butter and jelly is an important staple because it has a long shelf life and high nutritional value.
"That will give us the ability to give every family who comes to Helping Hand peanut butter and jelly, which is a great thing to offer to folks in need," said Margaret Owens with North Strand Helping Hand.
Along with collecting food, they are also selling hotdogs and hamburgers to raise money for North Strand Helping Hand.
The event continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
