With Governor Nikki Haley's appointment of Tim Scott to the U.S. Senate to replace the retiring Jim Demint, that leaves the First Congressional seat open.
Now a new name to possibly run is emerging.
CNN reports that a Republican source close to Mark Sanford says the former South Carolina governor plans to run for the Congressional seat he held more than a decade ago.
The source says a formal announcement will come soon.
Several other names have also been thrown out as potential candidates, including Mark Sanford's ex-wife and former South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford.
