A Timmonsville town council official tells us the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA inspected the town's wastewater treatment plant Monday morning.

The official says the inspection seemed favorable to the town, but the official results haven't been released.

Last August , a spokesperson for the EPA told NewsChannel 15 they had an ongoing investigation of the plant, but wouldn't elaborate on any details because it involves their civil enforcement unit.

The plant treats water for residents in Timmonsville and parts of Florence and Darlington Counties.

Officials with the EPA say in the past five years they've cited the town three times for violations with its wastewater treatment plant.
