Jackson named FMU School of Business Outstanding Alumnus

Ken Jackson, originally of Florence, received Francis Marion University's Morgan B. Coker School of Business Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2010.

The award was presented during a breakfast on Feb. 19.

"As an alumnus, Ken Jackson represents everything that this university values," said FMU President Fred Carter. "He is a person of substance, ability and integrity. I can think of no one who has served this university more effectively or who is more deserving of this award."

Jackson graduated from FMU in 1984 with a B.S. degree in business administration. He is a real estate broker with RE/MAX Professionals in Florence, and served as president of the S.C. Association of Realtors in 2003 and of the Florence Board of Realtors in 1996. He is also a member of the National Association of Realtors Board of Directors. He was named Realtor of the Year in 1998 by the Florence Board of Realtors and Business Person of the Year by the Florence Chamber of Commerce in 2008. He was also inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame.

Jackson is very active in community and church affairs. He has served as chairman of the city of Florence Planning Commission and the Florence County-Municipal Planning Commission. He is treasurer of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership and is a member of the Florence Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is also a member and former chairman of the FMU Board of Trustees. Jackson was a board member and vice chairman of the board of directors of the FMU Foundation from 1994 to 2003 and president of the FMU Alumni Association from 1992 to 1994. He is an elder and clerk of session for the First Presbyterian Church in Florence.
