The "Move that Bus" moment just wouldn't have been the same without a big crowd of fans cheering on the Extreme Makeover crew.
They came, they saw, they cheered. The show estimates nearly 5,000 spectators showed up, some from just down the road, like Gaye Stevens. "I live approximately two miles from here."
Others, like Rocky Armentrout, came from far away. Armentrout took a day off from work and made the 800 mile drive to Horry County from Ashland, Ohio, just for a shot at meeting his hero. "They said that number 24 NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is gonna be here and he's my guy."
Others came just because they're big fans of the show and its biggest star. "I wish Ty would come to my house," said Jennie Kendel, from Fairmont, NC.
They arrived by bus and trudged through muddy fields, dropping off cans of food for the food drive along the way, and then stood shoulder to shoulder for many hours without one complaint.
No matter how far they came, or why they came, the thousands of Extreme Makeover fans all had one thing in common. They were all thrilled for the Extreme Makeover family, the Suggs. "They're good people. I'm thankful for them and I'm glad for all this turnout, all these people that turned out today to back them and support them. I'm really excited," Gaye Stevens said.
In the end, the bus ride, the hours of waiting, the straining to see what was going on was all worth it, as the move that bus moment arrived and thousands of fans gave their hearty approval for the sake of one happy family.
