The efforts of hundreds of volunteers, who worked thousands of hours, paid off Monday afternoon as the Suggs family of Horry County yelled "Move that Bus!" with Ty Pennington and a crowd of spectators.
The Suggs family, kissed and hug relatives. They also thanked the crowd and the builders.
One week ago today, the Suggs family got a knock on their door they won't ever forget. Ty Pennington and the designers from the hit ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" showed up to change the family's life.
Today, surrounded by the show's cast and crew, family, friends and volunteers the saw the house they will call their home for the first time.
It was a moment that had a visible impact on the crowd as well. The spectators and viewers at home have watched this house take shape over the past 7 days, and to see the family see it for the first time, was a moment many of them won't forget either.
Sterling Homes, the builders, pulled it off in just 106 hours.
Each of the spectators was asked to bring a canned good to the site, as part of the Extreme Food Drive taking part in conjunction with the build. So far, 35 tons of food have been collected. The goal is to collect 100 tons. We'll have a finally tally later this week.
NewsChannel 15 will be live at the site tonight at 6 & 7 with a recap of this amazing event.
