Derrick Suggs' mother, Tammy, lives right next door.

She says everything that's happened since Monday has been like a dream, but she's so proud her son's family was chose for Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Over the past five years, Derrick and Amanda have at one time or another taken in all six of her siblings, and treat them as if they are their own children in a house full of love. The couple, who has two children of their own, adopted three of Amanda's siblings to keep them from going into foster care.

Tammy Suggs says those who've worked on the new home are also full of love and compassion.

"I am so grateful to all of them. The volunteers, the builders, the businesses that have donated food, catered, everything. And Extreme Makeover, they have been nothing but terrific, they really have, all of them you know. And I just love all of them, and I'm so thankful to the good Lord that they came out, and that they've built a home, a safe home, for my children and my grandchildren, because they need it and they deserve it. They really do," Tammy Suggs said tearfully.

The oldest of Amanda's three siblings that they adopted, James, is in the Army.

The 19 year old actually deployed to serve in South Korea on Saturday, two days before the family found out they'd been chosen.

We're told he was able to call here this week to find out that all this was going on.
