Having the Extreme Makeover crew plus hundreds of volunteers and spectators in the area, has been a real boon to one small convenience store just down the road, Allsbrook Grocery Store.

In mid-January, traffic usually slows to a trickle at the Allsbrook Grocery Store and Grill. But not this week. "We're probably getting maybe an extra hundred or so people in here," said owner Wallace Todd, "It's better than it was for the last couple of weeks."

If it's not the guys from the construction crew making a pit stop to refuel, it's spectators dropping in for a quick snack before heading to the site. Todd said, "Lot of them looking for coffee these cold nights, coffee and hot chocolate, drinks or snacks."

Regular customers, who are used to finding plenty of empty parking spaces, have noticed the difference. "All of the cars and I'm going like, 'What in the world?'," said Madeline Anderson.

At the grill behind the store, it's still mostly local folks filling the booths, though Trenton Tyler, a local farmer, has noticed a few new faces this week, too. "It's some busier. It's got to be 'cause more people through."

Wallace and Cindy Todd, who own the store, have made a few trips to the construction site themselves, just to see what's going on.

They say having Extreme Makeover just down the road is a once in a lifetime experience for the whole community - especially the Suggs family, who will be getting a new home.

"They're customers of ours too, so we're as excited for them as we are to get the extra business for ourself, actually," said Todd.

In a few days, traffic will slow down again and life will return to normal at Allsbrook Grocery.

The Todds will miss the excitement - and the extra business. "Oh yeah," said Todd, "It'll be dull around here next week."
