Police in Myrtle Beach are looking for the thieves who stole toys meant to go to less fortunate children in our community.
The group, Horry County ABATE, a bikers rights' organization was keeping the toys in a storage unit in Myrtle Beach.
Volunteers with the group say between mid-September and this weekend someone broke into the unit and stole many of the toys.
They have since moved their toys to a different location.
Gary Balcom, assistant coordinator for ABATE says the theft hurts their efforts in what has been a down year for donations. "Things were already starting off a little slow anyway because of the economy, which is understandable. I mean, times are hard for everybody right now and it's hard enough for people to take care of their own, so that was making things start off a little slow," said Balcom
Horry County ABATE is holding its 22nd Annual Toys for Kids Run this Saturday at noon.
They're meeting at Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet.
You're asked to bring a new unwrapped toy, or a $10 dollar donation.
