A South Carolina man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a truck driver who was resting in a parking lot.

23-year-old Willie Pelzer III has been convicted of fatally shooting 35-year-old Jason Rivenburg in March.

Rivenburg - a father of three from New York - was resting in his truck at an abandoned gas station off Interstate 26 near Columbia.

He was found dead in that truck two days later. Prosecutors say Pelzer stalked and ambushed Rivenburg, shooting him twice in the head.

They say that Pelzer wanted money for drugs. Rivenburg had just $7 on him.
