An accident in Georgetown County Thursday night left a Pawleys Island woman dead.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson says the woman was killed just north of Georgetown on Highway 17 after 7pm, Thursday night.

The accident happened near the Debordieu Colony.

He says 46-year-old Rosa Johnson was called for help by her daughter who was stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire.

The coroner says while she was out there helping, a driver veered over and hit her.

Kenny Johnson says Johnson was taken to the hospital, but later died.

He says no one else was hurt in this accident.

We're waiting to learn about possible charges in this accident.
