After weeks of controversy surrounding the Atlantic Beach Town Council election, the Atlantic Beach Election Commission decided on Friday night to hold another election.

Incumbent Candidates Charlene Taylor and Josephine Isom lost their seats in the town council election on November 3rd.

The two winners were write-in candidates, Carolyn Cole and Windy Price.

Taylor and Isom, along with a third candidate, Paul Curry, filed protests questioning the residency of Cole and Price, and cited irregularities in the election process..

An attorney representing Isom and Taylor, argued that at least one voter was influenced to vote for Cole and Price, and Friday the commission agreed.

Charlene Taylor, one of many who were challenging election results, said "The verdict was fair and I think the law abiding citizens can now believe that we can have a fair election."

Cole and Price now have ten days to appeal the decision made on Friday, otherwise a new election date will be set.

It's about time the voters of NMB realize that the mayor and city council of NMB are keeping AB alive as a separate entity. The taxpayers of NMB provide law enforcement during their bike week. If left to their own devices, AB would fail and this would provide the opportunity for an honest, law abiding city government to take place. But this won't happen until the Mayor of NMB stops supporting the corruption of AB

I've said it again and again !

You cannot justify a government based on four city blocks, especially a corrupt and out-of-control bunch of idiots! Horry county needs to assimilate this area and provide the services now ! Atlantic Beach is the "eyesore" of the county and everyone know's it!

DITTO Steve---Atlantic Beach needs to loose their charter as a town, and just become part of the county. The only reason they move people into the town is to keep the number up to retain it--they pay them to move in for a while, then when they have to pay rent, they move out. And to thank, Tom Leath, city manager of Myrtle Beach, recommended a few months ago that we donate $500,00.00 to Atantic Beach to help them out---NOT. That crap did not float, and I told him so.

Windy Price; convicted criminal

Posted by AB Resident, Atlantic Beach - Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:10 a.m.

Windy Price is a convicted criminal, for a crime of dishonesty.

Windy Price was found guilty of Fraudulent Check at a bench trial in the Conway Magistrate Court, Case No. G009814. The Arrest Affidavit and conviction were entered as an exhibit in the protest hearing.

Windy Price was charged with Fraudulent Check in the Myrtle Beach Magistrate Court, Case No. G108357.

Windy Price, under the name Windy Hall, was charged with Fraudulent Check in the Aiken Summary Court, Case No. D689932.

Windy Price's husband, Darnell Price, was issued a "Rule To Vacate or Show Cause," on 6/15/09. They had not paid the $1,100 monthly rent from 12/2008 through the filing date. With only a partial $600 payment in 11/2008, the total owing was $7,200.

Purge the Voter Rolls

Posted by Nice Person, Surfside Beach, SC - Friday, November 20, 2009 at 9:33 p.m.

Hopefully, the State Election Commission will purge the Atlantic Beach voter rolls before this new election.

The residents of Atlantic Beach deserve better than the fraud, corruption and the lawsuits they've been struggling with, in the way of leadership over the past 10 years.

It's past time for change. The residents want to move on, rid their town of those with ulterior motives, and help their town progress toward the future.

Why not close down Atlantic beach council and let Horry county take over. These people are idiots and don't deserve what they have.
