The results from Tuesday's runoff election in Myrtle Beach have been certified.

At an Election Certification Hearing in Myrtle Beach this morning election commissioners examined 30 provisional ballots, and they tallied 257 votes that were not counted in Tuesday night's municipal runoff election.

Yesterday, a problem was discovered with a voting machine from the Dunes 1 precinct at Fire Station No. 5 on 79th Avenue North.

Sandy Martin, director of the Horry County Voter Registration and Elections Office, confirmed vote totals from one of the three machines in that precinct did not print when the poll clerk collected the results.

The county retained possession of the machine and brought it to the Election Commission meeting at Myrtle Beach City Hall this morning.

The winners from Tuesday's election did not change.

In the mayor's race challenger Mark McBride ended up with 2,230 votes compared to 2,851 votes for Mayor John Rhodes.

The results certified that incumbent Randal Wallace will stay on Myrtle Beach City Council and challenger Mike Lowder will be a newcomer on council. Incumbent Chuck Martino will not be returning.

Wallace received 3,548 votes, Lowder 2,826, and Chuck Martino got 2,578 votes.
