The South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind announced Tuesday that its Special Olympics unified soccer team has been invited to the 2010 USA National Games to represent the state of South Carolina.

The unified soccer team is made up of seven students from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. On the team from our area, Curtis Sparkman of Andrews, and Christopher McLeod of Dillon will be heading to Lincoln, Nebraska this summer to compete in the nationals. The rest of the team members are listed below.

The Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska will take place July 18-23. The team recently brought home the Gold Medal from the State Fall Games in Anderson. The SCSDB says this is a major accomplishment for SCSDB athletics, as it is the very first time they have had a unified soccer team.
