Leaders in the town of Timmonsville have decided to conduct an internal investigation into its water billing after complaints from the Florence Housing Authority.
NewsChannel 15 has obtained copies of letters the housing authority sent to the mayor of Timmonsville about the issue.
The first letter, sent in August, says the housing authority's investigation shows they were overcharged about $46,000 since August of 2006.
It goes on to ask for a qualified explanation or a refund.
In a meeting Tuesday night, town leaders in Timmonsville said they would make an adjustment, but would have to conduct an internal investigation to determine how much.
