The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has given a grant under the stimulus package to the Emergency Food and Shelter Program in Horry County which was formed by FEMA to help residents with food, utilities and rent assistance.
This program consists of United Way of Horry County and several of its agencies working together with other non-profits in a collaboration effort to assure Horry County residents receive the help they need.
The United Way's food pantries are coordinating a portion of the grant money to purchase food for the mass distribution sites to help feed our neighbors who are experiencing difficult economic times.
These pantries are: Churches Assisting People, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach, North Strand Helping Hand and South Strand Helping Hand.
