Read more: Local, STATE OF EDUCATION, SUPERINTENDENT JIM REX

Wednesday, South Carolina's Superintendent of Education was on the Grand Strand.

Jim Rex gave his annual update on the status of schools in our state. This year, he gave interviews instead of a traditional speech. He says it will help that stimulus money is coming into our state, but things will still be tough.

One superintendent attending Wednesday's conference talked about how important it is to relate to others.

Ora West of Allendale County Schools said, "When you get out and come to a conference like this you realize that you're not alone, you don't have all the answers, you can get answers from other people that's what's happening."

Rex also answered questions from people in the audience and online.
