Funeral arrangements are set for a Chesterfield County deputy killed in a motorcycle accident.

Over the weekend, 37-year-old Bernard Smith was off-duty when he lost control of his bike and ran off the road.

He worked with the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department for nearly three years and was named "Deputy of the Year" in 2008. Smith's funeral is Wednesday at noon at the Word of Life Church on Tech Road in Cheraw.

Burial will follow at Saint James AME Zion Church cemetery in Chesterfield.
