Freestyle Music Park: The first weekend

The gates were open for the first time at Freestyle Music Park this weekend.

So how did park-goer's like it and was it what park officials had hoped for?

Hard Rock Park may have been a one hit wonder, but locals and tourists seem to be enjoying the new Freestyle Music Park.

"Love it, Love it. It's fun. It's nice to have something like this right around the corner," said one park-goer.

The park has added new rides and new shows that are more geared toward kids, like the new ride called Fly Like an Eagle.

"It was really fun. It felt like I was hang gliding."

But the overwhelming favorite has been the Time Machine.

"The Time Machine. It's like a drop of nothing. It's the best thing here."

The former Zeppelin roller coaster, now called the Time Machine, may have a new theme, but it's still a crowd thriller.

"A lot of upside down and a lot of your insides going up and down."

Overall, people seem to be very enthusiastic about the new park.

It wasn't as crowded Monday as it was over the weekend, but for some, that was a good thing.

"It makes the lines a lot better and shorter, and so it's a lot easier to get on the rides. It's what I want."

Despite the lower attendance Monday, park officials are pleased.

Marketing Director John Stine said, "It actually exceeded our expectations a bit. We were very pleased. Nice blend of locals and visitors, so we know this is kind of the calm before the storm."

The guests at the park seemed pleased with the changes.

"I think it's more kid oriented. I like it better, for her," one mother told us.

"You know, I love it all, but I really love going with them and watching them on all the rides. It's been so much fun," said another.

FUN

Edward,

It's great to hear you enjoyed & like the park.
It's true it is'nt as large as other established theme parks which started out with less then what they have now. The new owners Of FreeStyle park has worked wonders in the 3 short months to make some of these changes.
Also I think they addressed many complaints from parents last year that it was'nt family friendly.
The new owners arn't finnished yet, they still have crews working on the park and in time they will add more rides.I just hope they build some high quality themed rides and not just whip up a bunch of reject carnie rides just for the sake of quanity. I was at the park from opening to close last Saturday,so it can be an all day park.

I gave my name and they gave me a free Freestyle Annual Pass to replace my old HRp annual pass, no problem. I ate lunch and dinner, food was good, no problem. I was with a 20 year old and 2 24 year olds and myself. We were there from 2:00 PM till 11:00 PM. Had a great time, rode all rides and saw all shows. The fireworks are the greatest I have ever seen besides Disney and Universal. Whoever can't go here and have a nice time and think that it is worth whatever you spend is an idiot.

Your post doesn't even make sense

Hey "Name With Held Former Sun News Website Attendee, SC", what in the world are you talking about?? You obviously have some sort of beef with the park and are telling outright lies.
Freestyle took the passes from Hard Rock, reprinted them with their logo and used those pictures and the information. On opening day, they had boxes of them ready to go. Not only that, when the line right at the opening of the park got a little long to get the new passes, they let all of us in on the HRP passes and told us we could get the new ones later.
We had an awesome time! Loved the new rides!
I do have another question for you...conspiracy theorist much? Wow, that you think they would take the time to go through postings on websites trying to figure out who you are is beyond paranoid. Get over yourself!

Would like public feedback? Considering a visit

Posted by Potential visitor, Pittsburgh - Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 5:23 p.m.

I'm considering a visit down to the park and the beach - I was hoping for more constructive feedback from someone who was there opening weekend than the "anonymous" comment.
Sounds like a disgruntled employee or local with a beef with the park - anybody have something helpful?

Lies

Posted by Edwardo Edward, WV - Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 5:17 p.m.

I don't know who the anonymous poster is, but they're lying. I went to the park for the very first time this past weekend from West Virginia. Five of my friends who had Hard Rock Park season Passes had theirs switched over at no cost and no hassle. I was asked when I purchased my ticket at opening if I was a resident of NC and SC in order to receive a discount.

None of the ticket prices were pricey, and were cheaper than Six Flags over Georgia AND Carowinds gate prices.

Don't know who you are, but you're obviously not working for the park I went to this weekend, and not seeing the things I saw. Nice enough park, my only problem is that it isn't an all day park.

Freestyle Disadvantage

Posted by Name With Held Former Sun News Website Attendee, SC - Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:53 a.m.

Formerly from the papers website because they do turn in screen names as the parks security managers read the site looking for possible violations of an employee contract.
Heres whats up.
The park is already not honoring last seasons season passes along with dissing the locals by making them wait until 5 to take advantage of the discounts Lots of refunds. Carloads of refunds were asked for. People walking up to the window to be horrorified at the pricey prices for a ticket even while the stations reporter was then with her camera.
Openingg Day had people spitting out the food.
Next issue will be employees required to perform tasks while not on the company time clock
Did the reporter see the illegals there
