The Hartsville Police Department is trying to raise about $24,000 to buy two new canine officers.

In the last year, two of their K-9 officers died and one retired.

Due to the economy, the department doesn't have all the money to buy new dogs, pay for their specialized training and medical coverage.

If you would like to contribute to the Hartsville Police K-9 fund, you're asked to call Lieutenant Brian Rudick at (843) 383 - 3011.
