Myrtle Beach police cite dozens for violating new law

Myrtle Beach police passed out a total of 63 tickets last Saturday. It was the first day the new helmet law took effect.

One group in particular that made it easy for the city.

A group of bikers left the Beaver Bar in Murrells Inlet, and headed to Myrtle Beach for what they called a "Freedom Ride."

Some wore helmets, but many did not.

The police department issued the following citations:

Helmet/Eyewear Infraction Tickets- 57

Helmet/Eyewear Warning Tickets- 5

Parking Warning Ticket- 1
