Horry County Police said Monday they had discovered human remains on Watertower Road near Longs on Saturday, and sources close to the investigation told NewsChannel 15 the bones are being tested to see if they could be those of a woman missing since 2002.

Galivant Ferry's Alice Donovan was abducted in 2002 from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Conway, but she has never been found. Two jail escapees from Kentucky, Brandon Basham and Chadrick Fulks, were later charged and convicted of Donovan's murder.

The sources told NewsChannel 15 that at least one of the suspects gave information that led to the search on Watertower Road, but they said they had been given similar information in the past. This time, however, remains were found.

The source said it was still too early to confirm whether the bones were those of Donovan, but they have been sent off for forensic testing.

Horry County Police did confirm the bones were those of an adult, but were unable to determine whether it was a man or woman.

The FBI is assisting Horry County Police with the investigation.

I can feel your pain

I hope this is her remains. Unlike me if it is you will know where she is and that is a plus. What most people outside of yourself and I; we both know it will never answer all our questions but at least it is a plus.

this is horrible

I hope that this is the poor womans body. Her family may feel somewhat better with a little closure. Anyone who does something like this deserves the death penalty. Not twenty appeals and twenty five tears later. They did it, we know they did it. Execution should happen 24 hours after DNA proves the body is hers.

Closure for the family

I hope and pray that this is
Alice Donavan. This was such a tragedy, no family should have to endure this. Maybe now this family can get some closure to their lives. God bless them all, and maybe these murderers will get what they deserve.

Bones found

i remember this story after it happened..we had just moved here and it was scary to know someone could be kidnapped from a parking lot especially at a busy place like walmart..if these are the bones of Alice i pray that the family can have closeure now..i can't imagine what her family has been going through since 2002 not knowing whether she was dead or alive and not having anything to prove either way..it is a shame that we have people out in our community or passing through that could do such a thing to another human being..if this is her i hope the family seeks the death penalty for what they have been through and what their mother and wife had to endure..let's all pray that justice will be served for Alice...
