(AP) -- SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 39-year-old Dorchester County man accused of killing a mentally handicapped woman and putting her in a ditch attributes her death to rough sex.

Dorchester County sheriff's Capt. Tom Marshall told the Post and Courier of Charleston that David Cameron Marsh told investigators he had consensual sex with the victim that involved choking.

Coroner Chris Nisbet says the 30-year-old victim died Dec. 1 from strangulation and that her death could not be an accident.

Deborah Kessler was reported missing Dec. 3. Her body was found Sunday in a ditch behind Marsh's home near Summerville.

Marsh was charged Monday with murder. He was denied bail and remains in jail. It was unclear whether he had an attorney.
