Horry County Fire Rescue and the SC Forestry Commission responded to a woods fire Sunday afternoon in Aynor. Firefighters were called to an area off Old King Street around 2:30 p.m. Within a couple hours the fire was contained.

The wildfire near Carolina Forest burned through containment lines Friday and continues to spread Saturday. Firefighters lit a burnout to fight it, causing a large orange glow in the sky overnight. The SC Forestry Commission called in the Army National Guard to assist.
