Horry County police responded to shots being fired on Ronald McNair Boulevard near the Highway 31 overpass on Friday around 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived they found a crime scene but no victim.

Horry County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident off the intersection of Dick Scobee Road and Ronald McNair Boulevard. Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the victim is a white male.

On September 3, 1998, a woman was held at knifepoint and sexually assaulted in a field on Ronald McNair Boulevard in Horry County. With few leads police were unable to develop a suspect that day, that week or even that year.
