Officials with the Florence County Magistrate Office say Shannon Smith, 42, pled guilty to reckless driving in March. They say the charge was lowered from DUI First Offense. Magistrate officials say he was fined $240.

Highway Patrol spokesman Sonny Collins said a driver has been charged with Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident in two crashes that happened just a minute apart on North Kings Highway in front of Myrtle Beach Manor in the Restaurant Row area of Horry County.

Retha Pierce was found guilty of resisting arrest in a December 25, 2007 arrest. She was sentenced to one year, which was suspended to 18 months probation.

The suspended mayor of Atlantic Beach has been cleared of a drunk driving charge. Toxicology tests for Retha Pierce came back negative for alcohol or other drugs, so the Marion County solicitor's office dropped the charge.
