    Thursday, May 02, 2013  A second arrest has been made, following the arrest of a man who police say had incendiary devices in Myrtle Beach.

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013  Myrtle Beach Police stopped Mark Victor Powell, Jr. on a Bench Warrant about 11:10 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of 5th Avenue North. When they searched Powell, police say he had incendiary devices.
  • Friday, July 29, 2011  The South Carolina Forestry Commission says the Hornet Fire burning in the Carolina Forest area of Horry County is 100 percent contained.
  • Wednesday, July 27, 2011  The South Carolina Forestry Commission says rain and hard word has helped the Hornet fire become 95 percent contained as of Wednesday afternoon.
  • Tuesday, July 26, 2011  After more than two inches of rainfall over a 48-hour period, fire officials say the Hornet Fire remains about 70 percent contained, having consumed 1,374 acres of woods near the Carolina Forest community. While the rain is a welcome relief to forestry crews, farmers and golf course supervisors who have been hit hard by a lingering drought, at least a few Grand Strand businesses do not look kindly on the rain.

    Monday, July 18, 2011  The Hornet Fire off Highway 90 in Horry County started more than two weeks ago, but it is still giving the South Carolina Forestry Commission trouble. The fire, which was 100 percent contained, is back down to 95 percent after recently jumping a containment line.
