The Horry County Animal Care Center was able to complete 118 adoptions during the month of April and 91 animals were either reclaimed by their owners or sent to various rescues for a total of 209 animals saved.

More and more, social media is becoming a part of our daily lives. To capitalize on its reach, Horry County's Animal Care Center started a Facebook fan page about six months ago to promote adoptions and help lost pets reunite with their owners.

Three dogs were taken to the Animal Care Center in Conway last February because of neglect or abuse. As of Tuesday, two of the dogs were adopted. The third, Butch, would have been put down within days if he didn't find a home.
