    Thursday, May 31, 2012  If you try to access radar images from the National Weather Service doppler radar in Wilmington, NC, online or on your mobile app, you won't see anything. Beginning today, the National Weather Service is upgrading their conventional doppler radar to dual polarization doppler radar. The radar will not be back in service any earlier than Tuesday, June 5th or as late as Friday June 8th. This is the most significant upgrade to doppler radar in more than 20 years.

    Wednesday, May 16, 2012  Four times this week, the National Weather Service in Wilmington, NC issued tornado warnings for Horry County or the surrounding area, based solely on radar detection with no actual tornadoes touching down.

    Tuesday, May 15, 2012  The tornado warning in Georgetown county has expired, severe thunderstorm watch issued for the Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro, and Williamsburg counties until 9:00 Tuesday night.
