Stacey Bryant Bazen, 40, of Myrtle Beach is being charged with Criminal Domestic Violence.
Police were called to N. Kings Highway for an incident that happened in a parking lot at 7300 N. Kings Highway on Wednesday around 7:00 p.m.
The victim told officers that she and Bazen were arguing over child custody because they are separated.
She told Bazen she didn't want to speak to him and that she was leaving to get an item belonging to their daughter, according to the police report.
The victim said Bazen got into the back of her van, pulled her hair, and tore her earring out of her right ear.
When officers spoke with Bazen, they said he told police he wanted to ride with the victim in the van to get their daughter's item.
He told officers that when he got into the van, he "tried to give the victim a hug and his finger possibly caught her earring."
Bazen denied grabbing the victim's hair.
Police say the victim had a torn right earlobe.
Bazen is employed by the Horry County School District.
He has been placed on administrative leave effective Friday, according to Teal Britton, spokeswoman for Horry County Schools.
