Two men arrested for Pawleys Island murder

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office arrested two men in connection to an early morning murder in Pawleys Island.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to Lumpy's Bar & Grill on Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island in reference to a fight. Deputies found Thomas Edward Unrue, Jr, 37, of Georgetown unresponsive in the parking lot.

Unrue was transported to Georgetown Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to a press release.

Police arrested Ronnie Gene Ackley, Jr, 41, of Pawleys Island at the scene.

Chris Brian Campbell, 37, of Lexington was arrested at his home Saturday evening by Lexington police, according to a press release.

Both men are charged with murder.

After interviewing witnesses deputies learned that Unrue was asked to leave Lumpy's several times because he was arguing with other people.

Witnesses told police that the argument led to a fight two men attacked Unrue until he was unconscious.
