One man is in jail for attempted murder after a fight at a New Year's Eve party in Azalea Lakes early Tuesday morning, according to Horry County Police.

Police responded to a party shortly after 1 a.m. in Azalea Lakes.

Police say a fight broke out over a stolen laptop.

Efrem Barnard hit another person over the head with a metal pole fracturing his skull, according to police.

The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Barnard is being held on no bond.
