An inmate who walked off from the Federal Correctional Institution in Williamsburg County late Wednesday afternoon is back in custody.

Kevin Eric Campbell, 26, turned himself in to authorities at the prison at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, according to Chris Burke with the Federal Bureau of Prisons Public Affairs Office.

He says they will now investigate why Campbell walked off.

Depending on the circumstances Campbell could be prosecuted for escape by the US Attorney's Office, Burke says.
