Man faces criminal charges after standoff

Gary Kenneth Stegal, 64, faces several charges in connection with a standoff with police Saturday afternoon in the Weslin Creek subdivision near Holmestown Road.

Horry County Police charged Stegal with, Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature, Poining and Presenting a Firearm, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Use of Weapon During a Violent Crime, Assault on Law Enforcement Officer, and Taking Gun from Law Enforcement, according to Sgt. Robert Kegler.

He's being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Saturday's standoff began after a domestic dispute.
