Laguadia Terry, 27, was killed in Daytona Beach, Florida last Sunday when the car she was riding in was struck in a hit and run.
Daytona Beach police say Terry was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police arrested Shane Cruz, Jr.,22, and charged him with Vehicular Homicide, Failing to Give Aid, Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Grand Theft Auto.
Terry grew up in the Bennettsville community and attended Marlboro County High School in 2004.
She moved to Florida to attend Bethune-Cookman College.
Police say Terry had just passed her college exit exam to become a nurse the weekend she was killed.
Her friends have created a memorial at the crash site with balloons, teddy bears and flowers.
They've also established a memorial fund to help with Terry's funeral expenses and used to help raise her 3-year-old daughter she leaves behind.
Funeral services take place at the Berea Convention Center on Highway 38 in Bennettsville Saturday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Sandy Grove Cemetery.
